Job summary

Visa is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for its 2027 Summer Internship Program in Singapore.

This 12-week, full-time internship offers hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle, with emphasis on modern engineering practices, usability, and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computing, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Java, Go, JavaScript or HTML.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms and software design concepts.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
• Knowledge of UI design for web-based applications.
• Ability to translate customer problems into effective technical solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud-native development concepts and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Exposure to AI-powered engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cline or similar coding assistants.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation concepts.

Job Description

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will join Visa’s 2027 Summer Internship Program and gain real-world experience working with one of the world’s most recognized technology brands. Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

• We welcome applications from Singapore citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents. All candidates must have existing, and continuing, right to work in Singapore.
• Penultimateyear undergraduatestudents graduating between December 2027 – June 2028
• Able to work full-time for 12 weeks between May 2027and August 2027

Core Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computing, Information Systems, or a related field
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Java, GoLang, JavaScript or HTML.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles, data structures, algorithms and software design concepts.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
• Knowledge of user interface design for web-based applications.
• Ability to understand customer problems, think from a user perspective and convert business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud-native application development concepts and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Exposure to AI-powered engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cline or similar coding assistants.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation and agentic AI concepts.
• Good communication skills and a strong desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills

• General understanding of database systems, including relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Basic knowledge of AI/ML concepts and techniques.
• Familiarity with language models, context management and prompt engineering.
• Exposure to generative AI tools and coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Aider or Cline.
