Polar Cold is a cold chain startup that is backed by ENGIE, the French multinational energy company. We are developing the world's first decentralized cold storage network across South East Asia. Our main goal is to revolutionize cold storage in order to reduce food waste and minimize the environmental footprint of cold rooms.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to lead the development of our Polar Cold Booking & Access Platform, integrating everything from customer bookings and payments to automated access control and IoT data.
You’ll bridge the physical and digital — connecting our cold rooms, customers, and telemetry data through a seamless web experience.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and deploy the Polar Cold booking platform, including:
  User registration and KYC verification
  Booking and scheduling system (daily, weekly, monthly rentals)
  Integrated payment gateway and automated invoicing
  Access code generation APIs to automatically provide customers with secure, time-bound digital entry codes for their rooms
  IoT dashboard integration for real-time monitoring of energy, temperature, and alerts
• Build and maintain backend services (APIs, authentication, admin tools).
• Collaborate with the hardware and operations teams to sync real-world devices with platform logic (e.g., access code activation, door status, telemetry).
• Implement security, reliability, and scalability best practices across the platform.
• Take ownership of the system architecture and contribute directly to the product roadmap.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in backend or full-stack software development.
• Strong proficiency in:
  Node.js / Python / Go for backend
  React / Next.js for frontend
  PostgreSQL / Firebase / MongoDB for databases
• Experience integrating payment gateways (e.g. Stripe, PayMongo, Xendit).
• Familiarity with API design, IoT data pipelines, and access control systems (e.g., locks or gateways controlled via APIs).
• Understanding of authentication & authorization flows (OAuth2, JWT, etc.).
• Startup mindset: you thrive in fast-paced, iterative environments.
• Bonus: Experience with ThingsBoard, MQTT, or hardware integration.
