Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in Singapore seeks a Software Engineer III within the Athena Core Risk Team to contribute to secure, scalable tech products. You will be a core technical contributor, delivering trusted technology solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable manner.

You will join an agile team responsible for production-grade code, automation, and security-focused development across multiple functions. Candidates should have 3+ years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines.
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Understanding of cross-asset/cross-business platforms.
  • Understanding of distributed frameworks.
  • Solid knowledge of Python.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authored AI-assisted software development tools with evaluation of outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations and secure handling of inputs/outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Athena Core Risk Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market‑leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

  • 3 or more years of software engineering experience on Computer Science concepts and proficient advanced experience.
  • Hands‑on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Understanding of cross‑asset/cross‑business platforms
  • Understanding of distributed frameworks
  • Solid knowledge of Python
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Hands‑on experience using enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI‑generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
  • In‑depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience
