Job summary

Google's Payments team builds consumer payment technologies and powers money movement between Google and its users and businesses. We seek software engineers who can design scalable systems for high-throughput services and collaborate across AI, data storage, security, and UI domains.

You will work on critical projects, contribute to architecture, and help ensure reliability for global finance back-ends while exploring Generative AI and large-scale data workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 1 year of experience with Generative AI, Agentic AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI evaluations, training, or models.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable features and infrastructure for the Finance and Growth platform.
• Work on all technical aspects of development, including technical requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration.
• Contribute to the architectural evolution of the platform, balancing the needs for centralization vs decentralization.
• Ensure the performance and reliability of critical services, maintaining high availability standards for global finance back-end infrastructures.
• Participate in code reviews, share knowledge to foster a culture of technical excellence.

• Expertise in distributed systems design, specifically in architecting high-performance services that handle millions of requests per second.
