Job summary

GovTech Singapore is hiring an Android Engineer for Singpass, focusing on secure authentication, data sharing, and mobile experiences. You will contribute across the stack, from product discussions to production deployment, and collaborate with UX designers, cybersecurity specialists, and fellow engineers.

You are expected to have a strong foundation in computer science and hands-on Android/Kotlin skills, with experience in MVVM/MVI, Coroutines, Flow, and modern Android development practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven professional experience in Android development with Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience with Kotlin and the Android SDK is mandatory.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, Git, and automated testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Solve end-to-end problems across the full software development lifecycle from ideation to production.
• Build and prototype features for Singpass with security and usability in mind.
• Write robust, maintainable, and secure code focusing on authentication, data sharing, and mobile UX.
• Develop intuitive, responsive UI using native Android frameworks and modern layout components.
• Optimize performance and architecture of Android apps with MVVM/MVI patterns.

[What you will be working on]

As An Android Engineer At Singpass, You Won't Be Confined To a Single Layer Of The Stack. We View Our Engineers As Holistic Problem Solvers. You Will

• Solve End-to-End Problems: Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from brainstorming solutions with product managers and fellow engineers, to deploying and monitoring code in production.
• Build & Prototype: Develop and iterate on features for Singpass, ensuring they meet our high standards for security and usability.
• Write Robust Code: Craft clean, maintainable, and secure-by-design code. You will focus on implementing secure authentication, data sharing features, and reliable mobile experiences.
• Build Modern UI/UX: Develop intuitive, responsive interfaces using native Android UI frameworks and modern Android layout components, ensuring smooth user experiences across diverse devices.
• Optimize Performance & Architecture: Design and maintain robust, scalable Android app architectures (e.g., MVVM/MVI) and optimize application performance, focusing on memory management, battery efficiency, and network responsiveness.
• Learn Cloud Native Engineering: Understand how mobile clients interact with cloud deployments, focusing on system integrity and operational safety.
• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with UX designers, cybersecurity specialists, and fellow engineers to understand user needs and technical constraints.

• Have a Security-First Mindset: You understand that working on national infrastructure requires extreme attention to detail and a disciplined approach to risk, including code obfuscation and secure implementation of authentication protocols.
• Are Excellent Communicators: You can explain your logic clearly and enjoy collaborating in a team environment.
