This position involves thorough assessment of allegations of abuse/neglect of children and vulnerable adults. Professionals in this role assess immediate safety concerns as well as potential risks, collaborating with other community professionals and law enforcement as needed. Successful applicants must possess strong observational and analytical skills, as well the ability to respectfully engage families as partners in planning for safety. At times, this position requires arranging for foster care/relative care for children unable to remain in the parental home. This position requires the ability to apply Iowa Code, agency policy, and sound professional judgment to highly complex situations involving crises and/or chronic abuse/neglect. All cases assigned to persons in this position require home visits, detailed interviews, and thorough narrative documentation. Travel is required as well as serving on an on-call rotation.
