GDS – Finance Business Advisor - Assistant Director

The opportunity

We are looking for a Manager for our Internal Business Advisor team. This individual will have strong financial experience and will provide guidance and support to our team as they advise our internal client serving teams to make best use of SAP and its processes in order to effectively manage their projects with EY’s external clients. There are three main components to this role:

  • Maintaining a strong technical working knowledge of SAP as well as EY’s business operating model, in order to guide the Internal Business Advisor team on the challenges they encounter while supporting our client serving teams.
  • Providing management structure (recruiting, training, scheduling) and performance counselling to the growing Internal Business Advisor Team.
  • Acting as a critical liaison between the team and the Global Finance leadership.

Your key responsibilities
  • Organise a team schedule for taking calls / chats from client servers – ensuring engagement teams are properly prepared for client negotiations from a financial perspective, explaining downstream impacts of different user choices required in SAP, providing instruction and guidance on the preparation of external client project completion estimate processes and corresponding financial impacts, and advising and screen sharing to show users how to perform various actions in SAP.
  • Make team decisions to ensure client servers receive a timely and accurate response from the team, resolving questions or issues in a one‑stop basis where possible or escalating to the appropriate functional expert quickly and effectively.
  • Use strong analytical skills to determine individuals or teams in need of proactive outreach to improve financial performance, and build strong relationships with regional service line finance teams to understand how to best approach your combined stakeholders.
  • Guide the team on how to best leverage system and finance expertise in order to prepare for discussions: making judgments regarding the topics to be addressed and their prioritization.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to the Internal Business Advisor team to help further develop their skills through job shadowing, advising and training.
  • Help facilitate training for account and engagement teams on SAP and effective financial management practices.
Skills and attributes for success
  • Fluent and effective English speaker (C2 level).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience working in a corporate organization preferably in finance/business/customer service area which includes supervisory role experience.
  • Excellent listening skills to provide focused advice, combined with the ability to apply judgment and seek guidance when escalation to a functional expert is appropriate.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including responsiveness and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and deliver outputs within strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and partnering skills with people at all levels of the firm.
  • Strong knowledge of financial metrics and dependencies, including ability to calculate variances quickly and accurately.
  • Experience coaching more junior team members through shadowing, answering questions, advice, etc.
