Job summary

NCS Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a senior leader to oversee day-to-day data center facilities operations, incident response, and resolution. This role combines infrastructure management, team leadership, and incident coordination to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient data center operations.

You will manage physical and cloud infrastructure, monitor service performance, and drive ITIL-compliant processes for incident, change, and problem management.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of hands-on IT data center and cloud operations.
• Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes for incident, problem, and change management.
• Experience with monitoring and backup tools.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Hands-on scripting or automation (Ansible, Python, PowerShell) is advantageous.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.

Job Description

This is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of data center facilities while managing incident response and resolution. This role combines infrastructure management, team leadership, and incident coordination to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient data center operations.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

• Oversee management and maintenance of physical and virtual/cloud infrastructure, including servers, storage, network devices, power and cooling systems
• Ensure data center infrastructure is secure, reliable, scalable, and meets organizational business and operational needs
• Plan, implement, and upgrade infrastructure to meet performance and capacity requirements
• Work with delivery teams to support day-to-day cloud operations and contribute to cloud projects

Incident Management

• Act as first-level escalation point for onsite operational incidents
• Oversee troubleshooting efforts and ensure quick resolution of infrastructure issues or outages
• Track and follow up on incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and closure
• Ensure ITIL compliance in incident, problem, and change management processes
• Respond to emergencies and participate in 24×7 standby duties
• Monitor service performance and ensure incidents, service requests, and queries are addressed within SLA

3.Team Leadership and Collaboration

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate with other departments including IT, network operations, security, and facilities
• Define and enforce operational standards and best practices for data center staff
• Guide junior engineers on operational tasks and standards
• Coordinate task assignments, follow up on deliverables, and ensure quality of service outputs

4.Capacity Planning and Optimization

• Monitor data center performance, capacity, and usage to forecast future infrastructure needs
• Proactively address potential issues before they impact operations
• Develop and implement strategies for optimizing use of data center resources (space, power, cooling, network bandwidth)

5.Security and Compliance

• Ensure data center and cloud operations meet industry standards and comply with relevant security, regulatory, and environmental requirements
• Implement physical security measures and work with security teams to ensure data integrity and access control
• Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans for data center operations
• Enforce security access authorizations

6.Operational Excellence

• Maintain operational records and documentation of facilities and equipment maintenance activities
• Administer preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment readiness
• Prepare monthly SLA reports for equipment uptime, power usage, and temperature
• Schedule and track servicing jobs and vendor management activities
• Monitor system alerts and backups using tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, and NetBackup
• Generate daily reports on server, network monitoring, and backup status

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent
• 7-10 years of IT hands-on experience in data center operations and cloud administration
• Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM processes for incident, problem, and change management
• Familiarity with monitoring and backup tools
• Hands-on experience in batch job processing, server checks, and system operations
• Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Ansible, Python, PowerShell) is advantageous
• AWS, Azure and Google Cloud hands-on experience is an added advantage
• Knowledge of process improvement methodologies and tools
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge and experience in disaster recovery planning and business continuity management
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments
• Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards
• Strong understanding of physical data center infrastructure (power, cooling, space management)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
