- Greet guests in a friendly and respectful manner, offering a warm welcome in line with Japanese hospitality.
- Assist guests in selecting food and beverages from the menu, explaining, and making recommendations.
- Take accurate orders and deliver food and drinks in a timely manner.
- Serve a variety of Japanese drinks, including sake, beer, and whiskey, following proper techniques and etiquette.
- Upsell additional items such as specialty drinks, food items, or promotions.
- Ensure guests' needs are met throughout their meal, providing refills, checking satisfaction, and clearing empty plates or glasses.
- Communicate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure food and drinks are prepared and served according to orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized service area, including tables, utensils, and beverage stations.
- Process payments accurately.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, especially in relation to food and beverage handling.
- Engage with customers in a way that fosters a welcoming and respectful atmosphere, keeping in mind the communal, friendly nature of izakayas.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the manager, including setting up and closing the bar.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a server or bartending role is preferred, particularly in a Japanese restaurant/bar.
- Knowledge of Japanese food, drinks (especially sake and beer), and culinary terminology is a strong plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on attentiveness and hospitality.
