Knorr-Bremse Asia Pacific (Holding) Ltd. Singapore Branch in Singapore is seeking a Service Center Engineer to service, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, test and maintain railway control systems and related components in the service center.

You will support the Service Center Manager in planning and inventory management of spares for EP2002 repairs, ensuring timely procurement, and assist in continuous improvement of workshop operations while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in railway/MRT/E&M/infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in LTA or MRT-related projects in Singapore preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and test brake control systems and components.
  • Maintain repair records and update service status in SAP.
  • Coordinate spare parts tracking and inventory control.
  • Ensure tools and testing equipment are calibrated and maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with railway safety standards and quality procedures.

Reporting To: Service Center Manager

Location: Singapore

Job Summary

The Service Center Engineer is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, testing, and maintenance of railway control systems and related components in the service center.

Support the Service Center manager in the maintenance regime of all the equipment and tools of the service center including the Test Benches, Air Compressor system (including piping and hoses), special tools and all tools required for the service center. Ensure the service center is well maintained and keep neat and clean at all times.

Support the manager in the planning and inventory management of all the necessary spares for the repair/overhaul of the EP2002. Ensuring all necessary spares are procured, tracked and delivered in time for the start of the repair/overhaul.

Ensure all non-conformance of the spares to ensure timely replacement by factory so as not to affect the repair/overhaul schedule. Support the manager in ad-hoc work in the development of the service center.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Service Repair & Overhaul
  • Perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and functional testing brake control systems and components.
  • Diagnose electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical faults in brake equipment.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble brake control units and assemblies.
  • Replace defective parts and perform adjustment and calibration activities.
  • Conduct overhaul activities according to OEM manuals, maintenance procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Perform pressure, leakage, and functional tests after repair and overhaul.
  • Ensure repaired units meet technical performance and safety standards.
2. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Analyze failure modes and support root cause investigation.
  • Prepare technical findings and repair reports.
  • Support field service teams on technical escalations when required.
  • Assist engineering team in reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Support warranty and failure analysis activities.
3. Workshop & Service Center Operations
  • Maintain accurate repair and overhaul records.
  • Update service status in SAP systems.
  • Support spare parts tracking and inventory control.
  • Ensure special tools and testing equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Support continuous improvement and productivity initiatives.
4. Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow railway safety standards, workshop SOPs, and quality procedures.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S standards in the workshop.
  • Support internal and external quality audits.
Requirements:
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in railway, MRT, E&M, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in LTA or MRT-related projects in Singapore is preferred.
  • Experience in installation, testing, and maintenance of railway systems will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with railway operational constraints and engineering access coordination.
Technical Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of Pneumatic systems and associated control systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and communication systems such as CANbus networks.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of testing, troubleshooting, and site coordination practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic reporting tools.
Soft Skills
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Hands-on and proactive approach to site execution and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight engineering hours.
  • Good teamwork and stakeholder coordination abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in live operational railway environments.
  • Familiarity with LTA, SMRT or SBS Transit engineering procedures and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of permit‑to‑work systems and railway safety procedures.
