Job summary

HRNet Ventures Pte Ltd invites a Diploma holder to join our hardware test team in Tampines, Singapore. You will perform functional, diagnostic and system-level testing of server, storage and networking hardware, and set up test stations alongside diagnostic equipment.

The role requires Linux and DOS familiarity, basic electronics knowledge and hands-on troubleshooting. Expect 12‑hour rotating shifts, 4 days per week with Sunday off, day and night rotations from 8am–8pm and 8pm–8am.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Nitec / Higher Nitec in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, IT or related disciplines.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in testing, manufacturing, server hardware or engineering support.
• Basic knowledge of Linux and DOS operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Understanding of basic electrical/electronic concepts.
• Familiarity with BIOS, UEFI, firmware and operating system configuration.
• Able to read and understand test procedures, BOMs, engineering instructions and technical documentation.
• Experience with server, rack-mounted systems or hardware testing is an advantage.
• Ability to understand Python or other programming/test scripts is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional, diagnostic and system-level testing of server, storage and networking hardware.

• Perform basic Linux command-line troubleshooting including system status, hardware information, logs and network connectivity.
• Troubleshoot server hardware, software, firmware, BIOS/UEFI, cabling, and test-station issues.
• Analyze error codes, test failures and system logs to identify root causes.
• Support BIOS/UEFI configuration, firmware updates and system configuration checks.
• Assist with test template configuration, rack test setup and system/database configuration.
• Assist with Golden Image (GI) preparation and server configuration.
• Support NPI by assisting test station setup, test procedure validation and production readiness.
• Conduct re-testing after component replacement or configuration changes.
• Provide technical support and guidance to production testers on testing procedures.
• Maintain accurate test records and follow ESD, safety, quality and production procedures.

Job description

This role is suitable for candidates with experience in server testing, computer hardware, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor, EMS, networking equipment, IT hardware or technical production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform functional, diagnostic and system-level testing of server, storage and networking hardware.

• Set up and operate server/rack test stations, test fixtures and diagnostic equipment.

• Execute test procedures and record accurate test results, failure symptoms and troubleshooting actions.

• Perform server and rack-level testing according to approved Test Process Instructions (TPI), Work Instructions and engineering requirements.

• Use Linux and DOS operating systems / command-line environments to execute diagnostic commands, test applications and troubleshooting utilities.

• Perform basic Linux command-line troubleshooting, including checking system status, hardware information, logs, devices and network connectivity.

• Use DOS-based diagnostic and firmware utilities where required.

• Troubleshoot server hardware, software, firmware, BIOS/UEFI, cabling, network and test-station issues.

• Perform hardware diagnostics involving CPU, memory, storage, motherboard, power supply, network interfaces and other server components.

• Analyse error codes, test failures, system logs and diagnostic results to identify potential root causes.

• Support BIOS/UEFI configuration, firmware updates and system configuration checks.

• Perform basic network hardware and connectivity troubleshooting.

• Support test template configuration, rack test setup and system/database configuration where required.

• Assist with Golden Image (GI) preparation and server configuration where required.

• Support NPI by assisting with test station setup, test procedure validation and production readiness.

• Conduct re-testing following component replacement, configuration changes or corrective actions.

• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring test failures and elevate complex issues to Test/Engineering teams.

• Assist with test procedure, diagnostic script and test process improvements.

• Provide technical support and guidance to production testers/operators on testing procedures.

• Maintain accurate test records and follow ESD, safety, quality and production procedures.
