Job summary

A leading construction firm in Singapore is seeking a qualified EHS Manager to oversee Workplace Safety and Health Organization (WSHO) activities. The role involves implementing the ISO EHS management system, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. Responsibilities include regular inspections, data analysis for improvements, and emergency drills. Job description
Responsibilities
  • To be responsible for WSHO activities in the following :
  • Support the Project Manager in the overall implementation of the ISO EHS Management System.
  • Implement EHS measures in accordance with applicable legislative requirements and/or specific risk assessment & safework procedures.
  • Conduct monthly mass toolbox meetings to enhance EHS awareness among workers.
  • Co-ordinate with Safety Co-ordinator, Environment Control Officer and Lifting Supervisor on day-to-day EHS activities at site.
  • Collates summary data from EHS inspection failures by EHS personnel (MOM / NEA summons /court orders / demerit points / EHS incidents / accidents) to perform data analysis (root cause analysis) to facilitate problem-solving (recommendations on corrective actions) for continual improvement.
  • Follow-up daily EHS inspection with subcontracted safety coordinator and maintain its records.
  • Recommend “STOP WORK NOTICE / SWN” to subcontractor associated with critical EHS violations that could lead to fatalities / injuries, dangerous occurrences & occupational diseases. This will be notified to Project Manager for temporary suspension of work based on high risk and area of concern.
  • Implement Permit-To-Work System for hazardous activities on site.
  • Ensure all plant and equipment (machinery / electrical tools) have valid inspection with its test records / certificates by Authorised Examiner / Approved Person / LEW.
  • Review specific risk assessment and safework procedures submitted by subcontractor.
  • Assist Project Manager / Site Manager in co-ordination of site works to eliminate or reduce risks.
  • Assist Project Manager on completion of EHS appointment letters and keep the records on site.
  • Conduct emergency drills to promote and enhance workers’ safety awareness and familiarization of the assembly area.
  • Conduct EHS powerpoint slide presentation to Client / Consultant / CNQC HQ EHS committee on monthly basis.
  • Follow-up regular HDB / NEA / MOM inspection visit and rectify non-conformity / observation photos timely with appropriate measures in accordance to applicable legislative requirements or otherwise stated under approved code of practices.
  • Promote and conduct safe time out activities due to safety / housekeeping lapse.
  • Ensure new workers are briefed for safety induction prior to commencing work.
  • Ensure daily toolbox meetings are conducted by safety co-ordinator and its records are kept and maintained.
