Job summary

This leadership role partners with business and risk stakeholders to drive platform modernisation, boost developer productivity, and deliver measurable business value through secure, high-availability technology.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior leadership experience in software or enterprise technology within large, highly available environments.
• Proven track record of establishing engineering standards and driving platform modernisation with measurable outcomes.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms and modern architecture patterns (Kubernetes, IaC, observability).
• Sound judgement balancing scale, security and speed in regulated enterprise settings.
• Strong executive communication and leadership, with experience shaping investment and operating models.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; postgraduate qualifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering direction, software design principles and architecture strategy.
• Establish organisational software security strategy and governance.
• Define quality strategy and engineering metrics to drive delivery excellence.
• Set strategic integration architecture across the enterprise.
• Own engineering performance metrics: reliability, velocity, productivity and cost efficiency.
• Lead and mentor high-performing engineering teams and foster succession planning.
• Partner with business, risk and operations to translate priorities into engineering investments.
