Job summary

Manulife is seeking an experienced underwriting professional to support the modernization and maintenance of the Manulife Underwriting Manual (MUM). You will conduct medical and mortality research and translate findings into underwriting guidance for Asia.

The role suits a senior underwriter who enjoys research and evidence-based decisions beyond individual cases. You will collaborate with underwriting, medical, actuarial and data experts to keep MUM medically current, commercially competitive,

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of life insurance underwriting experience, including at least 2 years in High Net Worth underwriting.
• Demonstrated expertise in mortality underwriting and medical risk assessment.
• Experience reviewing complex medical, financial, and lifestyle risks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive reviews of medical literature, epidemiological studies, and mortality research.
• Assess emerging medical advances and their implications for life underwriting.
• Develop evidence-based underwriting recommendations and classifications.
• Support the review and maintenance of the MUM and guidelines.
• Collaborate with actuarial and medical teams to reflect Asia-specific mortality experience.
