Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Firmware and Product Test Engineer for the SSD group to ensure world-class firmware reliability and performance in enterprise and automotive markets.

You will build verification plans, develop testing methods, and lead a team to validate firmware features while integrating AI-enabled enhancements and maintaining rigorous quality standards across projects.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of SSD firmware test development experience.
• Deep knowledge of SSD firmware testing and Python programming.
• Strong understanding of storage protocols like PCIe, NVMe, NVMe-MI, and OCP.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive firmware verification plans for features.
• Develop white/grey-box and closed-system tests to validate firmware features.
• Analyze failures from regressions and perform root-cause analysis.
• Lead test development, deployment, automation, and reporting efforts.

As a Senior Firmware and Product Test Engineer in the Solid State Drive (SSD) group at Micron Technology, you will help ensure our SSD products have world-class performance and reliability. Responsibilities

• Build comprehensive firmware verification plans for various firmware features.
• Develop white/ grey-box, known, and closed system testing methods to verify and validate firmware features.
• Analyze failures from weekly regressions and perform root-cause analysis, requiring deep SSD domain expertise.
• Manage test development, test deployment, test automation, and reporting activities.
• Communicate challenges, solutions, and mitigation plans to cross-functional teams and management with clear and effective communication of both technical and non-technical topics.
• Participate in code reviews and guide the team to ensure comprehensive coverage and accurate architectural build.
• Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
• Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
• Establish strong working relationships with firmware development engineers to improve code quality.
• Lead a team of technical people, as required.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
• 6-8 years of pertinent experience in SSD firmware test development
• Comprehensive understanding and substantial experience in SSD firmware testing and Python programming
• Deep understanding of storage industry protocols and specifications such as PCIe, NVMe, NVMe-MI and OCP.
• Strong understanding of NAND flash operation and SSD firmware components.
• Experience in validating and debugging NAND, firmware and system-level issues in SSD products.
• Familiarity with Agile development, GIT development flow and branch management.
• Experience with automated build, continuous integration, and test automation systems
• Highly organized, creative, motivated, and passionate about achieving results
• Ability to work on complex tasks independently with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capability to mentor less experienced engineers
• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role‑appropriate AI literacy to use AI‑enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem‑solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a great teammate
• Candidates with 2-3 years of experience but strong Python programming skills and test development experience may be considered for entry-level positions
