Job summary

Micron Technology, a leader in memory and storage solutions, seeks a Firmware Engineer to develop and test firmware for SSD products. You will design IP subsystems, implement QA tests, and leverage AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and accuracy within the firmware development lifecycle.

The role requires strong C programming, embedded systems experience, and familiarity with PCIe/NVMe interfaces. Collaboration with peers and management, plus ongoing professional development, is essential.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with firmware/embedded programming (primary C) and debugging.
• Experience working with storage interfaces ideally PCIe/NVMe is considered a plus.
• Experience working in NAND would be an advantage.
• 2 years of equivalent experience in the embedded systems development field is an advantage.
• Conducts analysis, designs, performs programming, debugs and modifies software.
• Troubleshoots code for firmware applications.
• Utilizes analog and digital hardware and software operating systems. Typically, programs in machine language, assembly language and high-level languages, (e.g., C, Python).
• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products meeting tech specs (Performance, Endurance, Capacity, Functionality, Quality/Reliability).
• Firmware Quality Assurance: develop unit/functional tests for firmware subsystems.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness within scope of work.
• Communicate detailed status to management and cross-functional teams.
• Develop collaborative relationships to boost team involvement and performance.
