Job summary

Synapxe is seeking an Assistant Data Science Analyst to build data products, extract insights from datasets, and prepare data for advanced analysis. The role requires combining statistical, data mining, and software development skills to scrub, transform, and model data with high technical quality.

The incumbent will work on collecting data, assessing quality, and developing analysis scripts, documenting results, and presenting insights with compelling narratives to drive business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent.
• At least 4 years of IT industry experience.

Position Overview

The Assistant Data Science Analyst builds data products that extract insights from datasets. The analyst retrieves and analyzes diverse datasets, and assesses data quality and performs transformations to prepare data for more advanced analysis. The role applies statistical, algorithmic, data-mining, and visualization techniques to datasets and develops models of high technical quality. The incumbent assists with setting up environments conducive to data analysis, develops and documents analysis scripts, summarizes results, and draws conclusions. The candidate possesses a combination of analytic, machine learning, data mining, and statistical skills, as well as experience with algorithms and coding.

The incumbent demonstrates interest in uncovering patterns within complex data. The analyst possesses data intuition and curiosity to learn and master new techniques on diverse real-world data, and shows tenacity in solving problems when encountering unfamiliar scenarios.

Role & Responsibilities

Prepare data sets

• Extract data from data sources
• Integrate multiple data sets to build large and complex data sets
• Assess and report data quality with recommendations on fit for analytics use
• Apply programming abilities to build software to scrub, combine, and manage data from a variety of sources
• Develop and update data dictionary of data relevant for further analysis

Analyse data

• Apply data mining techniques and programming skills to investigate leads, identify patterns and regularities in data
• Develop machine learning prototypes and minimum viable products to evaluate viablity of models
• Maintain reproducibility and understanding of the modeling process via documentation and other means

Present insights

• Assist with the development of actionable recommendations
• Develop compelling, logically structured presentations including story-telling of research/analytics findings

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree, in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent.
• At least 4 years of experience working in the IT industry or projects including.
• Develop, implement and maintain IT systems, preferable on Data Warehouse, ETL rules, data modelling and design with BI applications: Operations Support and Business Analysis experience
• Strong MS-SQL and Oracle Database scripting
• Able to work independently as well as an effective team player with strong desire to deliver results.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems with BI reports and ETL processes and perform root cause analysis.
• Adaptable and meticulous with strong analytical skills.
• Good communication skills (written and spoken).
• Good team player.
• Experience in Data warehouse and healthcare domain is an added advantage.
