What you will be working on

The Government Digital Product (GDP) Team aims to spearhead the digital transformation of government. GDP develops capabilities focusing on strategic systems of engagement where ICT provides a differentiating factor to citizens. The team delivers digital information and transactional services leveraging Agile Application Development, Analytics, User Experience Design, Design Thinking and Web Application Performance Optimisation.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our development team supporting the Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY) discovery and inception team. You will design, develop, and maintain software products, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and performance. Be part of a cross-functional development team that values quality, automation and user experience of the software we deliver.

• Architect and maintain data pipelines - Work with data engineers to build and maintain data pipelines that process, store, and aggregate meaningful data for analytical, operational, and product needs.
• Design, develop, and maintain software application - Write clean, scalable, and efficient code to create software solutions that meet user needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams - Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality citizen-centric products.
• Perform code reviews - Ensure code quality and share knowledge with team members to improve overall team performance.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues - Identify and resolve software defects and performance issues.
• Implement automated testing and continuous integration - Ensure the reliability and stability of the software through automated tests and CI/CD pipelines.
• Documentation - Create and document technical designs that are aligned with architectural guidelines.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends - Continuously learn and apply new technologies and best practices to improve our products.

What we are looking for

• Educational Background - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Professional Experience - 7+ years of relevant experience in Software Engineering roles.

Technical Expertise:

• Experience with data platform technologies such as Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake or similar platforms.
• Extensive hands-on experience in full-stack web development, including Frontend & Backend: React and Node.js.
• Proficiency with containerization technologies, such as Docker and AWS services (Fargate ECS, Lambda, S3, Aurora, and RDS).
• Strong database management skills with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and programming skills and Cloud computing principles and software design patterns.

• Problem-Solving Skills
• Ability to break down complex problems into manageable, actionable items.
• Proven expertise in formulating structured solutions that drive progress and results.

• Backend Development Practices
• Expertise in authentication, middleware development, application security, API design, and system integration.

• Experience working with Singapore's Govt IT system and process
• Proven ability in stakeholder management.
