Job summary

MINDEF's Digital Ops-Tech Centre (DOTC) is seeking a senior software engineer to lead development of meaningful digital solutions for Singapore Armed Forces in a startup-like environment.

You will design, develop, test and maintain scalable applications across the full stack, manage roadmaps, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to balance security, stability and performance in a complex operational setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/CE/IT/Data Science or equivalent.
• 6+ years in software development for large-scale systems.

What the role is:

You lead the development of meaningful digital solutions in a "tech startup-like" environment at the Digital Ops-Tech Centre (DOTC) for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).The Digital Ops-Tech Centre (DOTC) is a newly established unit within the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) that explores cutting-edge technologies and adopts industry best practices in software engineering to enhance the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)'s operational capabilities through innovative digital solutions.

What you will be working on:

• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and agencies
• Manage roadmaps for new and existing digital products
• Understand the operational needs and challenges of users across the Services in the SAF
• Design, develop, test, and maintain useful and scalable software applications across the full technology stack
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment to support peers and drive innovation
• Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices whilst delivering impactful solutionsChallenge(s)
• Keeping abreast of the latest digital developments and conceptualising the applicability of emerging digital technology to the SAF to deliver high-impact improvements
• Working closely with multiple stakeholders to develop digital tools that balance security, stability, and performance needs in a complex operational environment

What we are looking for:

• Education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Data Analytics, and/or Artificial Intelligence
• At least 6 years of working experience in software development with experience working on large-scale software systems
• Proficient in modern full-stack web application development
• Passionate about engineering excellence and fostering a collaborative and team-oriented development approach
