Job summary

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore seeks an exceptional Senior Scientist to lead experimental research in 176Lu+ optical clock technology. You will own key subsystems, mentor junior researchers, and engage with industry and national partners to advance quantum metrology and translational goals.

Based at Kent Ridge Campus, you will push toward commercialisable clock systems for Singapore's metrology infrastructure and contribute to the lab's

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics with specialisation in AMO physics, precision metrology, or quantum information science.
• Demonstrated track record of high‑impact independent experimental research evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications.
• Hands‑on expertise in ion trapping: rf Paul traps, trap fabrication or characterisation, micromotion compensation, and laser cooling of atomic ions.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and operation of ion trap systems for 176Lu+ clocks.
• Drive multi‑ion clock configurations: ion crystal preparation and laser cooling.
• Develop and maintain ultra‑stable laser systems and optical frequency infrastructure.
• Contribute to optical frequency comparison and dissemination capabilities.
