Job description

BioChromatographix is a startup company developing novel chromatography media for purification of viruses and other biological materials. We seek a Senior Scientist for Chemistry to develop new ligand chemistries and optimize binding of ligands to our polymeric matrices. We are looking for hands on development and manufacturing at our Singapore laboratory.

Responsibilities

The Scientist is responsible for planning and conducting laboratory activities related to development of chromatography media, including

  • Modifying solid supports, such as polymethylmethacrylate, cellulose and silicon
  • Identifying appropriate ligands
  • Developing and optimizing conjugation reactions
  • Quantifying sites modified
  • Planning experiments and writing protocols
  • Conducting experiments to confirm performance of chromatography media
  • Analyzing samples
  • Writing reports and documenting experimental results
  • Conducting literature searches including freedom to operate searches of existing patent literature
  • Preparing patents

Supporting chromatography applications, including

  • Conducting application studies, preparing protocols, conducting experimental work and writing reports
  • Writing Application Notes and White Papers
  • Preparing publications for submission to journals

Other technical related assignments may be required.

Background

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements.

  • A PhD degree in a relevant field of chemistry
  • A minimum of three years industrial laboratory experience with solid supports
  • Experience in the following analysis techniques:
    oqPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry
    oSDS-PAGE and Western Blot
  • Experience in proper scientific method, including the use of controls, DOE, and analysis of results
  • Experience in conjugation and reaction optimization is preferred
  • Superior skills in spoken and written communication is required
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
