Job summary

Transcelestial is seeking a Vision Software Engineer to develop computer vision and image processing algorithms for satellite payloads and space systems. You will own the CV architecture for mission and terrestrial deployments, and guide the team with practical experience.

You will lead algorithm development for target detection, beacon tracking, and atmospheric mitigation, while designing embedded vision subsystems and validating them with HIL testing. Collaboration with partners is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in computer vision, image processing, and algorithm engineering.
• Hands-on experience deploying code to edge devices in space, aerospace, or autonomous platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in time-sensitive environments.

Responsibilities

• Own computer vision and image processing architecture for satellite missions and terrestrial deployments.
• Interact with stakeholders to ensure mission requirements for pointing, acquisition, and tracking are communicated and executed.
• Lead CV activities for free space optical communication terminals and develop algorithms for detection and tracking.
• Design and validate embedded vision subsystems and pipelines using hardware-in-the-loop testing, edge compute optimization, and real-time analysis.
• Manage software-hardware integration and calibration of optical sensors and camera systems in client satellites and ground stations.
• Deliver core first-phase vision processing projects on a tight 30-day timeline.
• Operate and troubleshoot Transcelestial's optical ground stations.
