Job description
Project Overview

The Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, Antimicrobial Resistance Interdisciplinary Research Group is seeking a Senior Research Engineer/Research Engineer for a project: “The pathobiology of tRNA modifications in cardiac development and diseased cell states”. This is a collaborative project with the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine to map the tRNA epitranscriptome and proteome in cardiac cell development and disease states, and to characterize potential next-generation early detection biomarkers for heart failure to complement existing clinical biomarkers. The successful candidate will utilize and acquire expertise in cardio-biology and multi-omics techniques, and contribute to impactful scientific and translational research.

Responsibilities

This role will suit an individual passionate about cardio-biology and proteomics studies to understand molecular mechanisms of protein translation and to develop potential biomarkers in heart development and disease. The candidate will be able to:

  • Design and perform proteomics experiments (eg, TMT, DIA, DDA)
  • Develop and optimize sample preparation workflows
  • Perform operation, maintenance and data acquisition on high-resolution mass spectrometers
  • Analyze data using advanced pipelines and support biological interpretation.
  • Characterize and develop potential biomarkers for early detection of heart failure
  • Ensure compliance with lab safety, QC standards, and data integrity policies
  • Maintains highly organized sample and data tracking and reporting workflow
Requirements
  • BS or MS in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering or related field
  • Experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and data analysis
  • Experience in sample preparation for proteomics analysis
  • Experience in operating Thermo nano liquid chromatography and Orbitrap mass spectrometer
  • Familiar with proteomics software as well as other bioinformatics tools and databases
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
