Special Situations | Credit & Corporate Events | Exclusive Insights

Do you thrive on breaking exclusive financial stories, chasing down leads, and spotting corporate catalysts before the market does? We’re looking for a sharp, well-connected journalist to join a fast-paced, highly specialised news team covering Southeast Asia and Australia.

In this role, you’ll be right at the heart of the action—tracking major credit events, uncovering restructuring moves, M&A manoeuvres, and everything in between. The focus is on listed and private companies in emerging and developed markets, particularly where financial stress, transformation, or opportunity creates a tradeable story.

You’ll bring :

  • Proven experience in credit or special situations reporting, or a background in investment banking, advisory, or asset management.
  • Strong regional knowledge, especially across Southeast Asia, and an impressive contacts book to match—covering banks, funds, corporates, advisers, and regulators.
  • Excellent judgement on what matters to a sophisticated financial audience.
  • Fluent written English and the ability to file quickly and accurately.
  • A collaborative spirit—you’ll work closely with fellow reporters and analysts across the region.

An understanding of how local politics, family ties and less-visible forces shape outcomes in this part of the world will serve you well. If you’re the sort of journalist who knows there’s often more to the story than the numbers suggest, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send your CV and a short note outlining your interest and availability.
