Job description
THE ROLE

AMD Quality & Reliability team drives quality rigor across all phases of microprocessors manufacturing to meet or exceed customer expectations. The primary activity of the Singapore Reliability Lab is the component level reliability stress testing of the silicon and package, component/board level BGA rework and Electrical Testing on Automated Test Equipment (ATE). We are expanding & currently looking for experienced candidates.

THE PERSON

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Technician with strong communication skills & a team player mindset. The ideal candidate will join a highly successful and growing team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform electrical test on semiconductor components on ATE and SLT platforms.
  • Perform Basic failure analysis on electrical failing units including electrical verification, functional testing, and basic diagnostics including Short-Circuit-Test (SCT), bench-level checks
  • Conduct detailed Visual Mechanical (VM) inspections, capture high-quality evidence images, and prepare units for reballing or advanced FA workflows.
  • Execute soldering, rework and BGA reballing tasks when needed.
  • Identify failure points, isolate potential root causes and provide technical recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare clear, structured, and comprehensive analysis reports—including observations, test results, and recommended next steps for internal stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams to escalate issues requiring deeper investigation.
  • Ensure proper handling, traceability, and documentation for all failing units in alignment with internal quality standards, ESD procedures, and lab protocols.
  • Uphold all ESD, safety, and lab operational standards during testing, handling, and analysis activities.
  • Maintain organized files, logs, checklists, rework records and inventory tracking information.
  • Receive, label, track, and manage failing units, perform cycle counts and track return reasons, shipments, and dispositions.
  • Maintain workplace readiness, including cleanliness and periodic maintenance of benches, tools, microscopes, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Support shift work or overtime as required by the supervisor or engineer.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • 5 or more years of experience in electronics repair, VM inspection, ATE/SLT support, or FA-related activities (fresh graduates may be considered).
  • Good understanding of board-level components, common failure indicators and inspection techniques.
  • Hands on experience with ATE Handlers (Hontect, Yushan, GS1, Summit, Eclipse) and 93K testers or similar equipment is must.
  • Hands-on experience using microscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and standard diagnostic tools.
  • Skilled in soldering, rework and BGA reballing, or willing to undergo formal training and certification.
  • Strong attention to detail; able to follow SOPs, work instructions, and checklists accurately.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (Excel, Outlook, internal logging systems).
  • Knowledge of ESD handling, safe lab practices, and equipment maintenance.
  • Experience with data analysis and automation scripts or tools ( Excel, Power BI, Python, VBA or similar) will be an advantage.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
