About the Role
The Senior Project Manager plays a key leadership role in the successful delivery of large-scale data centre projects. The position oversees the complete project lifecycle — from bid and pre-construction through delivery, compliance, and client handover — ensuring safety, profitability, and quality across all phases. This role demands a professional with deep mechanical and electrical expertise, excellent commercial understanding, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the safe delivery of all projects, ensuring compliance with company, client, and statutory Health & Safety standards.
- Oversee installation teams and project managers to guarantee timely and defect-free delivery within agreed budgets and schedules.
- Ensure projects adhere to all ISO and internal business system requirements, maintaining consistency, quality, and accountability.
- Manage Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) and enforce safe working practices across all sites.
- Conduct site surveys, verify design compliance, and manage material procurement lists for production.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, supporting bid development and proposal submissions.
- Supervise project and team performance in alignment with KPIs, providing feedback and driving improvement.
- Collaborate with the commercial team to manage subcontractor performance, contracts, risks, and financial reporting (CVRs).
- Lead specialist subcontractors to ensure work is executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with specifications.
- Monitor and report project progress using company-approved templates and tools.
- Support business strategy implementation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct regular employee performance reviews and provide mentorship and training to develop project teams.
- Uphold the company’s core values and data protection standards, maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all dealings.
Requirements
- PMP certification (or equivalent) with minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar project leadership role.
- Degree in Engineering, Business Studies, or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems for data centre or mission-critical facilities.
- Proven experience delivering data centre projects involving white space, grey space, and connectivity environments.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations, ideally with formal certification.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen — experience with P&L, cost forecasting, and risk management.
- Skilled in stakeholder and clientmanagement, with the ability to build trust and resolve complex issues.
- Excellent leadership and team development skills, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to travel as required to support project delivery across regional sites.
- Commitment to maintaining all relevant industry certifications and professional accreditations.
