A leading media organization in Singapore is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to oversee the operation and maintenance of power supply systems essential for broadcast services. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing technical teams, and facilitating major electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have an Electrical Engineering degree, relevant experience, and a passion for media technology.
The Senior Principal Engineer of BBTC M&E is responsible for leading and managing the operation and maintenance of all power supply installations at the Bukit Batok Transmission Centre (BBTC). This role ensures the reliability, safety, and compliance of electrical systems that support critical broadcast transmission services, including FM radio and digital TV. The engineer also plays a key role in planning upgrades, implementing preventive maintenance strategies, and responding to power-related faults to minimize service disruptions.
Ensures compliance with the Code of Practice for Electrical Installations (SS 638) in all Mediacorp terrestrial transmission systems, covering both FM radio, digital TV, and other systems at BBTC. This includes ensuring that all electrical systems meet government regulatory requirements and internal company performance and safety standards.
1. Leadership and Strategic Oversight — Lead the planning, operation, and maintenance of all power supply systems at BBTC to ensure high availability and operational excellence. Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations (e.g. SS 638) and Mediacorp's internal engineering standards.
2. System Reliability and Compliance — Oversee routine and preventive maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure, including UPS, switchgear, generators, and distribution panels. Ensure all systems meet regulatory requirements for safety, reliability, and energy efficiency.
3. Project Management — Plan and manage electrical upgrade projects, capacity expansions, or system retrofits, including budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder coordination. Collaborate with internal departments, consultants, and external contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
4. Technical Support and Troubleshooting — Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical faults or power outages. Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
5. Risk Management and Business Continuity — Identify and mitigate risks related to power system failures or compliance breaches. Develop and implement contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted broadcast transmission.
6. Documentation and Audit Readiness — Maintain accurate records of maintenance, testing, incidents, and compliance audits. Support internal and external audits by providing technical documentation and site walkthroughs.
