Job summary

Clera is seeking a backend-architecture-heavy platform engineer to own reliability, scale, performance, and developer experience for an AI/ML evaluation and reinforcement learning platform. You will work within a tight-knit engineering team of about 15 people to shape core infrastructure that is fast, reliable, and cost-efficient.

You will manage production uptime and latency, build AWS infrastructure with Terraform, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, and related tools, design scalable backend systems,

Qualifications

• 2–4 years owning production cloud infrastructure for high-availability platforms.
• Hands-on AWS and containerized systems experience (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, alerting, and incident response.
• Strong backend judgment across APIs, databases, and async systems.
• Experience designing for bursty workloads and high-concurrency services.

Responsibilities

• Own production uptime, latency, provisioning speed, infra cost, and incident response for core platform services.
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes/EKS, Helm, Docker, EC2, CodeBuild, ECR, S3, IAM, networking, and secrets management.
• Design scalable backend and platform systems, including capacity planning, autoscaling, queues, and rollback paths.
• Define and improve dashboards, alerts, logs, traces, SLOs, runbooks, and on-call workflows.
