Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of optical modules and subsystems, and capable to use specified vision system design software, e.g., Zemax or Code V.
- Design optical paths including lenses, mirrors and micro-optics.
- Develop and optimize optical packaging processes.
- Perform optical simulations and modelling, analysing beam propagation, coupling efficiency, losses, and thermal effects.
- Create and execute detailed optical test plans and conduct verification and validation of prototypes
- Evaluate and qualify optical components (e.g., lenses, waveguides, fibre assemblies, coatings) and suppliers based on performance, manufacturability, and yield.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to analyse tolerances, control processes, and integrate optical components effectively.
- Responsible for onsite system setup and testing for automated vision inspection system. Perform troubleshooting and provide technical assistance internally and externally.
- Involved in design verification and testing, working closely with cross‑functional teams to integrate optical designs into system‑level products, especially on to the semiconductor equipment e.g., AOI Machine or Vision Inspection Machine.
- Document designs, simulations, and test results to support intellectual property creation and product certifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic/Optoelectronic Engineering, Applied Optics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in optical design and development.
- Proficient in optical design software such as Zemax, Code V, or Optical Studio.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a commitment to meeting project timelines and excellent interpersonal communication.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as MATLAB will be an advantage.
