Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join the Global Backbone Engineering team.

You will architect, deploy, and operate a scalable backbone spanning data centers, offices, and cloud environments, enabling AI workloads worldwide.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge in large-scale backbone networking technologies and protocols, including: MPLS, SR-MPLS, BGP-LU, RSVP-TE, IS-IS, OSPF, MP-BGP, BFD, QoS, MACsec, and IPFIX/NetFlow.
• Hands-on experience with backbone interconnect and optical transport technologies: DWDM, coherent optics, passive and active optical networking, OTN, and 400G/800G long-haul circuits.
• Deep experience with peering and internet exchange: PNI, transit provider management, IXP connectivity, and BGP policy and traffic engineering at scale.
• Ability to write and understand Python/Shell scripts and programs for automation, tooling, capacity planning dashboards, and network alarming.
• Strong familiarity with backbone-class routing platforms such as Juniper MX/PTX, Cisco ASR/NCS, or equivalent carrier-grade systems.
• You have architected, built, and operated a backbone or WAN network spanning multiple continents, serving thousands of machines and millions of traffic flows.
• Hands-on experience with high-performance network optimization in highly-available, large-scale, multisite, international environments. Great communication and presentation skills.
• 8+ years of experience in network engineering, with substantial focus on backbone/WAN or carrier-grade environments.
• BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

They architect and scale the long-haul, high-capacity connectivity that bridges NVIDIA's AI factories with cloud providers, engineering optimized fiber paths, intelligent traffic routing, and industry-leading network technology to deliver flexibility and performance for intensive AI workloads across this expanding ecosystem. The goal is to design, build, and operate a highly reliable, scalable, and efficient backbone network that interconnects NVIDIA's global data centers, offices, and cloud environments — the foundational layer that enables AI training clusters, GPU compute fabrics, and software development pipelines to operate at peak performance worldwide.
