Gramian Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Research & Engineering Specialist to contribute to an advanced AI training project. You will build, train, and optimize models, pipelines, and inference systems using Python.

The role emphasizes hands-on ML engineering, reproducible workflows, testing, and performance optimization. Remote worldwide opportunity with a ~15 hours/week commitment to begin within 24–48 hours of onboarding.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, applied math, statistics, engineering, or related quantitative field.
• Strong ML engineering experience in practical settings.
• Proficient in Python with ability to implement, debug, test, and optimize non-trivial code.
• Hands-on experience using coding agents within a Python workflow.
• Understanding of ML model development, training and inference workflows.
• Ability to build reproducible implementations and verify correctness via tests.
• Strong quantitative reasoning and problem solving for numerical issues.
• Ability to work independently and meet quality and submission requirements.
• Strong written communication to explain technical findings.
• Availability to contribute ~15 hours per week starting within 24–48 hours of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and validate ML models, training pipelines, and inference systems.
• Modify model components, data pipelines, evaluation systems, and numerical methods with Python.
• Build reproducible workflows using Python, CLI tools, and ML frameworks.
• Debug numerical, algorithmic, and system failures; identify root causes and fix them.
• Optimize training and inference for memory usage, efficiency, and throughput.
• Design tests to verify implementation correctness and performance requirements.
• Review ML engineering tasks and validate solutions.
• Use coding agents to accelerate development, debugging, testing, and reviews.
• Document technical approaches, decisions, tests, and performance findings clearly.
• Deliver high-quality, reproducible tasks within project deadlines.
