Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and implement solutions to complex engineering features and components of a fully autonomous cleaning robot.
• Lead and manage a team of design engineers in developing robotic hardware products, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
• Take ownership of the end-to-end design process from concept generation to prototyping, testing, and final product release.
• Rapidly prototype design ideas using fabrication methods such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and sheet metal to validate multiple concepts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—mechanical, electrical, and software—to ensure seamless integration of hardware components.
• Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify design requirements and specifications, considering functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Utilize CAD software and other design tools to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
• Supervise the creation of technical documentation to transition the product into production efficiently.
• Create and maintain accurate engineering documentation, including drawings, schematics, and bills of materials.
• Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address design challenges and ensure safety and reliability.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to source components, evaluate production feasibility, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in robotics hardware, incorporating innovative solutions and technologies into product designs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the production team during manufacturing, troubleshooting design-related issues, and ensuring successful product assembly.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 4–5 years of experience in product management, design engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in product development with strong understanding of Agile, Stage‑Gate, Lean Product Development, and Design Thinking methodologies.
• Proficiency in rapid prototyping—from low‑fidelity 3D printing to validate ideas.
• Proficient in SolidWorks.
• Experience in new product introduction (NPI) and launching new functionality at a technology company.
• Operations experience in rolling out hardware or robotic products preferred.
• Deep expertise in mechanical design, manufacturing methodologies, and material selection.
• Proficient in material selection strategies for plastic and metals, considering manufacturability, cost, corrosion resistance, and UL‑94 flame requirements.
• Experience with supply chain operations such as vendor sourcing and supplier qualification using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, APQP, PPAP.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, employing DFMEA and root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, adept at bridging gaps between technical and non‑technical teams.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic, team‑oriented environment while maintaining high standards of execution.
