Job description
Argus is where smart people belong and where they can grow.

We answer the challenge of illuminating markets and shaping new futures. What will you be doing?

We are looking for a driven, passionate, and resourceful market analyst to join our team covering Biofuels markets. The ideal candidate is innately curious and personable, able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within a designated product portfolio, including ethanol and alternative marine fuels, as well as develop an appreciation and understanding of related markets such as sustainable aviation fuel, biofuel feedstocks and carbon markets. In addition, you must be interested in energy, policy and economics, enjoy people and building relationships.

You will be writing engaging market intelligence and analysing spot prices that are timely, accurate, objective, and meaningful for our clients. This includes maintaining a strong network of contacts within the industries to source original, relevant and exclusive content. The early-stage biofuels markets in particular are developing quickly and changing rapidly, meaning we need you to be agile, and able to see the bigger picture beyond your current work scope, to identify areas where we can improve and expand our coverage to meet the changing needs of the market and energy transition. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from various backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe including Shanghai, Sydney and London. In addition, there are opportunities to travel, attend industry events, present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

This is an excellent opportunity for market analysts, consultants, or brokers to transfer their skills and knowledge to advance their careers by joining a growing, global, independently owned organisation.

You do not need commodities or energy industry experience. Instead, intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a genuine desire to produce quality journalism are the primary qualities we look for in a diverse pool of candidates.

  • Monitor and assess fast-moving markets to produce daily price assessments, market commentaries, news, analyses, and reports.
  • Establish strong relationships with key members of the industry and business leaders through meetings and daily communications to gain an in-depth understanding of your market and identify key trends.
  • Proactively generate pitch stories, contribute copy to the relevant publication and the online publication service, and contribute to unique content (blog posts, white papers, webinars, podcasts, etc.).
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the desk and other teams to enhance and drive coverage.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and industry events to build contacts and represent Argus in the industry.
  • Build your industry expertise and writing skills to provide readers with first-class market insights and analysis.
