Job summary

A Marine Engineering firm in Singapore seeks an experienced professional to oversee project activities and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This role requires a degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a shipyard. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of SAP. Competitive compensation is offered.

Responsibilities
  • Attend daily VSCC meetings for assigned projects and apply for Permit-to-Work when required.
  • Conduct daily site checks to ensure safe working conditions and compliance with Permit-to-Work requirements, both at the start and end of each work period
  • Identify potential risks at the worksite and brief workers on the risk assessment before commencing work.
  • Plan project activities in advance, including equipment, spare parts, and material requirements.
  • Monitor daily work progress and update work plans to meet project schedules.
  • Coordinate with production, planning, and engineering teams to align resources with support requirements.
  • Brief Engineers and Chargehands on detailed work requirements, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
  • Lead and assign teams of engineers and workers to carry out on-site repair works safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in meetings with customers regarding ship defects and related technical issues.
  • Coach, mentor, and guide departmental staff to enhance performance and skill development.
Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a shipyard or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of painting, staging operations, and ability to interpret technical drawings and paint specifications.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering projects and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong leadership, customer orientation, and effective communication skills across all levels.
  • SAP knowledge will be an added advantage.
