A global healthcare company in Singapore is seeking a Senior Manager, Procurement (Global Transportation APAC). This role entails developing multi-year transportation sourcing strategies, managing a significant portfolio, and leading supplier relationships. With over 10 years of Transportation Procurement experience required, strong communication skills in English and Japanese are essential. The successful candidate will optimize costs, lead supplier negotiations, and execute sourcing strategies across the APAC region.
The Senior Manager, Procurement (Global Transportation APAC) develops and executes multi‑year transportation sourcing strategies aligned with business plans, managing a100M medium‑to‑low complexity portfolio. The role sources multi‑modal transport such as Air, Ocean, Ground, Rail and Parcels, owns supplier relationships, drives cost savings and total‑cost‑of‑ownership improvements, enforces contract compliance, and tracks KPIs for service, quality and risk. The manager partners with Global Category Leadership and APAC regional cross sector stakeholders, influences cross‑functional teams, and implement procurement roadmaps.
Build and maintain relationships throughout J&J that results in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of optimal approaches and solutions
Identifies business requirements and partners with Transportation Operation team and Global Transportation Procurement team to deliver annual value improvements and drive competitive advantage
Support the Global Category Leads on Global Transportation Procurement strategy
Keep up to date on the logistics industry and communicate industry updates to business partners
Design and execute sourcing strategies for APAC Air and Ocean Freight Forwarding category that are aligned globally but adaptable to APAC regional needs.
Deep dive the characteristics and business requirements of country/market Transportation spends and create sourcing strategies that are aligned with Operation team and Global/Regional category leads. First countries are Japan and India, and expand coverage to other countries as the program matures.
Lead enterprise compliance activity of Transportation procurement related law in Japan. e.g. Act on Proper and Fair Trade Practices for Small and Medium-sized Subcontractors
Develop and leverage deep mode expertise to proactively identify and implement innovative cost‑saving measures and service enhancements that drive operational efficiency and value creation
Lead cyclical sourcing events, as well as mid‑contract negotiations as needed
Establish robust value delivery pipeline for long range financial planning
Drive Supplier Enable Innovation initiative to bring value to the organization
Deliver cash flow improvement by optimizing payment term to suppliers
Interface directly with Senior leadership of suppliers to assure alignment of J&J’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation, and cost
Apply strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, to build relationships and understand customer needs
Participating in industry professional organizations and expand network
50% - Execution of category strategies to include sourcing strategy execution, supplier negotiations, sourcing events contract implementation and performance against established targets
30% - Act a single point of contract in the region to manage & prioritize portfolio of Procurement segment (MedTech, Vision and Innovative Medicine) specific initiatives, collaborate in business planning and provide procurement updates to segment leaders. This may include any identified cluster/country partner interface for procurement collaboration
10% - Manage supplier relationships, communicate changes to category strategy, execute joint collaborative initiatives, and monitor supplier contracts
5% - Support J&J One Procurement initiatives as identified for the region – sustainability, Payment Term improvement, etc.
5% - Any identified regional priorities or Global Transportation Procurement projects as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in business, Life Sciences or related fields
Master of Business Administration: Nice to have
More than 10 years of relevant proven experience in Transportation Procurement
Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas of focus (Spend Management: Category Management and Supplier Management)
Strong leadership, communication, influencing, collaboration, and talent development skills are required
Able to prioritize requests and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary
Ability to show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues
Customer Orientation (building and maintaining strong relationships with J&J senior Management
Ability to show strategic thinking
Strong project management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skill in English and Japanese with ability to confidently present complex information
Ability to continuously improve the organization
Experienced professional with business experience in multiple roles across a variety of functional specialties including general management, R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain or a Technical filed with at least 5+ years within a Procurement environment
Strong level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community
Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., businesses, Procurement leadership, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain); has "presence"
Strong people management and development skills with more than 5 years of people management experience
Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization can effectively and efficiently move through transitions
Working experience in Transportation industry would be plus
