Job Description

Strategy Development:

  • Drive a comprehensive research communication strategy to disseminate research findings effectively.
  • Identify and lead research communication objectives and target audiences with key researchers.

Stakeholder Strategic Engagement:

  • Identify and lead opportunities for partnerships and collaborative Communications projects that enhance the visibility and impact of CDE research.

Digital and Social Media Strategy:

  • Drive content and engagement strategy for the organisation’s research communication platforms, including websites, blogs, and social media.
  • Monitor and analyse the impact of digital communications and adjust strategies to enhance engagement and reach.

Media Relations Strategy:

  • Build relationships with journalists, reporters, and media outlets to amplify coverage of research projects and findings.
  • Establish a framework for the preparation and distribution of press releases and the coordination of media inquiries and interviews.
  • Drive the development of media capabilities amongst key academics in CDE.

Content Creation Pipeline:

  • Ensure the development of top-level press releases, research summaries, blog posts, newsletters, and social media updates to highlight research activities and outcomes, especially in key strategic research areas of the College.
  • Oversee the editing of content developed by research and industry comms staff, ensuring all content is accurate, engaging, and tailored to the intended audience.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Evaluate metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust tactics based on data and feedback, and the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate the impact of research communication efforts to key stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Experience in science/research communication.
  • Understanding of research process and academic environments.
  • Proficiency in various social media tools and platforms.
  • Familiarity with multimedia tools and platforms for creating and disseminating content, such as video editing software, design tools, and analytics software.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with researchers, media, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to diverse audiences and cultures.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and new challenges in a dynamic environment.
