Job Description

We are seeking an experienced healthcare professional to join our Clinical Governance & Quality department as Assistant Director. This senior role requires a strategic leader who can navigate complex medico‑legal matters whilst supporting clinical governance initiatives across our institution.

Job Responsibilities
  • Medico‑legal Case Management and Legal Affairs
  • Lead end‑to‑end management of medico‑legal queries and cases including MHCTA processes, Coroner's Inquiries, medical negligence suits, court proceedings, police investigations, and insurance claims.
  • Liaise with hospital legal counsels as the Single‑Point‑Of‑Contact and provide strategic guidance to clinical and administrative stakeholders on medico‑legal risk and regulatory implications.
  • Clinical Governance & Committee Support
  • Lead and supervise team in coordinating secretariat support for key medical committees (Clinical Ethics Committee, Medical Accreditation & Credentialing Committee, Clinical Board, doctors' meetings).
  • Oversee Medical Officer Posting Exercise (MOPEX) coordination and doctors' orientation programmes and supervise staff implementation of Medical Board Work Instructions.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation
  • Lead preparation for MOH Hospital Licensing audits whilst supervising staff on hospital‑wide accreditation process.
  • Oversee the tracking of MHCTA patients transferred to general hospitals, and quarterly unscheduled Visitors Board review of MHCTA patients.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Provide supervision and guidance to the CGQ editorial team of CMB’s Message (monthly e‑publication) and "Speak Your Mind" feedback platform.
  • Oversee the maintenance of up‑to‑date, accurate clinical governance related information on Intranet and doctors’ directories.
  • General/Other Duties as Assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chairman, Medical Board (Clinical Quality & Value) and the Deputy Director of CGQ.
Requirements
Competency
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Superior written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
Educational and Professional Requirements
  • Degree holder with minimum 10 years in the healthcare sector with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in medico‑legal matters (compulsory).
  • Proficiency in navigating medico‑legal frameworks, incident reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prior exposure to clinical governance and/or medical affairs functions, licensing/audit activities and hospital accreditation processes (e.g., JCI) is highly desirable.
