What you will do
  • Operate, monitor, and perform routine rounds for site utility systems including HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, compressed air, nitrogen, and associated support systems.
  • Monitor and interpret operating parameters, alarm conditions, and system performance trends to identify abnormal, recurring, or deterioration conditions; execute approved response actions, recommend appropriate follow-up measures, document observations and actions taken, and elevate issues beyond established procedures to the relevant System Owners, Maintenance, or Manufacturing teams in a timely manner.
  • Carry out alarm monitoring, timely response, escalation, and reporting for utility systems through approved alarm management tools, and site communication processes.
  • Perform operational adjustments, start-up, shutdown, changeover, and recovery activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Coordinate with Planner, Utilities, Maintenance, Manufacturing, and service providers for system shutdowns, equipment handover, and return-to-service activities.
  • Coordinate, escort, and oversee vendors or service providers during assigned utility-related work activities to ensure compliance with site safety, GMP, and operational requirements.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job support to new or less-experienced personnel on routine utility operations, LOTO practices, alarm response, and operational documentation, promoting safe and compliant execution of established procedures.
  • Perform and verify Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) requirements in accordance with site safe work procedures before equipment maintenance, inspection, or troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist in permit‑to‑work preparation, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), line breaking, confined space, hot work, and other safety controls relevant to utility operations.
  • Provide first‑line technical troubleshooting support by investigating equipment and process abnormalities within defined operating procedures and established practices, applying available technical resources to identify likely causes, documenting observations and actions taken, and escalating deviations, non‑routine issues, or engineering‑related concerns to the appropriate engineering personnel.
  • Support plant testing, commissioning, qualification, and periodic verification activities related to utility systems.
  • Maintain accurate shift handover notes, operating records, and documentation in compliance with GMP, safety, ALCOA+ and site procedures.

This position requires shift work to support continuous utility operations and manufacturing requirements. What we expect of you
  • Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Facilities Management, or related engineering discipline and 4 years of directly related experience OR High School Diploma / NITEC / Higher NITEC / GED and 6 years of directly related experience in plant, facilities, or utility operations
  • Preferred certifications on steam boilers, work at height, confined space or NFPA hot work
  • Preferred certification or hands‑on experience in utility systems operation, HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling towers, boilers, compressed air, nitrogen, or other industrial utility systems.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, refinery, chemical, semiconductor, or other regulated manufacturing environments will be an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of utility operating principles, equipment line‑up, alarm response, system isolation, and safe start‑up/shutdown practices.
  • Ability to monitor, acknowledge, respond to, elevate, and document utility alarms accurately in accordance with site procedures and reporting expectations.
  • Familiarity with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), permit‑to‑work, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), GMP documentation, and safe work practices.
  • Able to perform routine inspections, clearly communicate abnormalities, and elevate issues for maintenance or engineering support.
  • Competency in basic computer skills, including electronic logbooks, maintenance management systems, and standard office applications.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work closely with Utilities, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and service providers.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Availability and willingness to work on rotating shift
