Job summary

A leading hospitality organization in Singapore is seeking a Learning & Development professional to manage training programmes and support employee engagement. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree and 3–5 years of experience in a similar role. Job description
Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely execution and compliance with all mandatory core training programmes as per Shangri-La Group standards.
  • Conduct engaging in‑house Shangri-La training sessions to strengthen employees’ knowledge, skills, and understanding of the Group’s culture, values, and service standards, supporting collaboration, colleague engagement, and overall organisational excellence
  • Conduct engaging and informative Orientation programmes for all new joiners to ensure a strong start to the employee journey.
  • Oversee the maintenance and updates of training records and modules on Shangri-La Academy (Shang Academy), ensuring learning data is up‑to‑date and audit‑ready.
  • Collaborate with department heads and HR team to identify training needs and deliver tailored learning solutions that support operational performance and service standards.
  • Ensure the training component of onboarding is conducted effectively and all new hires meet learning and compliance milestones within required timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain the hotel’s Annual Training Calendar, ensuring training sessions are effectively scheduled, delivered, and documented.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, performance indicators, and post‑training assessments, proposing improvements when needed.
  • Manage training logistics including venue setup, materials preparation, and coordination with internal/external trainers.
  • Ensure training budget is tracked and optimised, and relevant training expenses are processed accurately and timely.
  • Act as the Learning & Development representative during audits, providing documentation and support for all training‑related matters.
  • Foster a learning culture by promoting self‑directed learning, e‑learning tools, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives across departments.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with training vendors, government agencies (e.g., SkillsFuture), and industry partners for training grants, learning resources, and external programmes.
  • Liaise with external institutions such as universities and polytechnics on internship placements; manage intern onboarding, engagement, and evaluations in partnership with HR and department managers.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and take overall lead in executing property‑wide activities that foster a positive and motivated workplace culture.
  • Manage and execute internal and external recognition programmes (e.g., Star of the Month, long service awards, national‑level recognition) to celebrate employee contributions.
  • Take full ownership of planning and executing monthly hotel birthday celebrations – Moment of Joy (MOJ) – ensuring a memorable and consistent experience for all staff.
  • Support HR in cross‑functional projects, employee experience initiatives, and other duties as assigned to enhance overall HR service delivery.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in Learning & Development, preferably within the hospitality or service industry.
  • Proven ability to conduct stand‑up training and orientation sessions confidently and effectively.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with e‑learning platforms an advantage.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to evaluate training effectiveness and prepare reports for management review.
