Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, wireless controllers (WLC), firewalls, IPS, and core network services such as DHCP, DNS, VLAN, and routing protocols.
• Provide Level 2 and above support for IT infrastructure incidents — troubleshoot, resolve, and elevate as required in line with the established procedures.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot network equipment (Switches, Firewalls, WLCs) to guarantee system stability and optimal performance.
• Implement and enforce firewall rules (FortiGate) and security best practices to protect systems against cyber-security threats.
• Manage Layer 2/3 switch configurations (Cisco) and ensure effective routing and network segregation.
• Conduct regular updates and patching of network equipment and servers to keep performance and security up to date.
• Monitor and optimise network performance, analyse traffic, solve connectivity issues, and plan for capacity growth.
• Lead and execute infrastructure projects, encompassing new system provisioning, upgrades, and service deployments.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of network designs, configurations and procedures to support operations and audits.
• Stay abreast of emerging IT technologies and best practices to facilitate continuous improvement.
• Support and uphold child safeguarding responsibilities in line with Cognita’s Child Protection Policy and Procedures.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure support or network administration.
• Good knowledge in the following areas:
  Microsoft Windows Server OS, VMware Virtualisation
  Cisco IOS, network switches, routers, WLC, and IP telephony
  FortiGate Firewalls
  VLANs, DHCP, DNS
  Microsoft Entra Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and able to prioritise effectively under pressure.
• Advantageous if you possess:
  ITIL certification
  Microsoft or Cisco certifications
  Cloud computing experience (Microsoft Azure)
  Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
