Job summary

Harmattan AI seeks a senior hardware engineer to own end-to-end electronics design for field-deployable drone launchers. You will develop mixed-signal and power boards, optimize for cost and manufacturability, and ensure rugged performance in outdoor environments.

The role requires deep expertise in PCB design, power electronics around hundreds of watts, thermal management, and close collaboration with embedded software and mechanical teams. On-site work in a demanding defense context awaits.

Qualifications

• Design complete schematics for mixed-signal and power boards, from power stages to digital sections.
• Deliver PCB layouts with signal integrity, EMI/EMC considerations, and power paths optimized for manufacturability.
• Own thermal strategy, battery temp management, and outdoor deployment robustness.
• Drive BOM cost reductions and qualify PCB manufacturers for mass production.
• Collaborate with embedded SW and mechanical teams; ensure hardware is production-ready.

Responsibilities

• Schematic Design - Design complete schematics for mixed-signal and power boards.
• PCB Layout & Routing - Lead board placement and routing with SI/EMC focus.
• Power & Thermal Architecture - Define product power and thermal strategy including battery management.
• Environmental Robustness - Define qualification plan for outdoor deployment conditions.
• Component Selection & BOM Optimization - Select cost-effective reliable components.
• Hardware Bring-up & Debug - Lead bring-up and write scripts as needed.
• EMC & Safety Compliance - Address EMC challenges and electrical safety.
• Collaboration with Embedded SW - Define hardware/software interfaces and support firmware bring-up.
• Collaboration with Mechanical - Ensure PCB integration in enclosures.
• Supplier & Manufacturing Ramp-up - Qualify manufacturers and support DFM/DFA for production.
• Documentation - Maintain schematics, layouts, test procedures and hardware specs.
