Job summary

Volex is seeking an experienced hardware design engineer to develop and mature hardware architecture for portable EV charging products. You will create schematics and PCB layouts, design charging control circuits, and work with firmware for system integration.

The role requires 8+ years of hardware design experience and proficiency in OrCAD, LTSPICE, PLECS, and MATLAB. You will contribute to robust, safety‑driven, and compliant power electronics hardware in a global manufacturing environment

Qualifications

• 8+ years hardware design experience.
• Experience with EV charging or power electronics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design schematics and PCB layouts for EV charging products.
• Develop charging control and protection circuits with thermal management considerations.
• Collaborate with firmware and mechanical teams for system integration and validation.

Role Purpose

Design and develop hardware architecture, power electronics, control circuitry and safety systems for Volex portable EV charging products.

Key Responsibilities:

Hardware Design

• Develop schematic designs and PCB layouts.
• Design charging control and protection circuits.
• Develop thermal management solutions.

Product Development

• Support concept, EVT, DVT, PVT and production stages.
• Work closely with firmware engineers for system integration.

Compliance & Safety

• Design to UL, IEC, SAE and automotive requirements.
• Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA and risk assessments.

Customer Program Support

• Resolve technical issues during beta programs.
