Job summary

sggovterp seeks a Senior Geomatics Engineer / Principal Geomatics Engineer (Geodesy) to strengthen Singapore's national geodetic capability and infrastructure. You will join the Geodesy team and contribute to datum modernisation, land-sea integration, and climate-related geospatial applications.

The role involves technical operations, geospatial data management, and applied research to support national programmes and government stakeholders across geodetic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geodesy, Geomatics, Remote Sensing, GIS or related field.
• Strong understanding of geodetic concepts, CRS, map projections, and data processing.
• Experience with GIS and geospatial data analysis.
• Familiarity with GNSS, geoid modelling, or geodetic adjustment is a plus.
• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to engage stakeholders.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred; fresh graduates welcome.

What the role is

Senior Geomatics Engineer / Principal Geomatics Engineer, Geodesy

What you will be working on

You will be part of the Geodesy team, responsible for strengthening Singapore's national geodetic capability and infrastructure, and supporting the geospatial sector through a range of national geodetic initiatives. These include datum modernisation, land-sea integration, land motion monitoring, Whole-of-Government geodetic coordination and stakeholder engagement, as well as geodetic and geospatial applications supporting climate change adaptation and other national priorities.

Your primary role will involve technical operations, geospatial and geodetic data management and analysis, and applied research in support of the team's programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing, processing, analysing and interpreting high-quality geospatial and geodetic data, and developing appropriate data products and visualisations;
• Supporting the design, development, operation and maintenance of national geodetic infrastructure, systems and associated technical workflows;
• Conducting technical studies and applied research to strengthen internal capabilities and advance Singapore's national geodetic infrastructure and services; and
• Supporting Whole-of-Government geodetic initiatives, including technical coordination and collaboration with government agencies, research institutions and other stakeholders.

What we are looking for

• Background in Geodesy, Geomatics Engineering, Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university.
• Good understanding of geodetic principles, coordinate reference systems, map projections, geospatial data management and spatial data processing.
• Experience with GIS and geospatial data analysis.
• Experience or knowledge in one or more areas such as reference frames and datum development, GNSS, gravity and geoid modelling, land motion monitoring, geodetic adjustment, terrestrial surveying/instrumentation, remote sensing, or related geodetic disciplines would be an advantage.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB, as well as geospatial data processing and visualisation tools, would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Relevant experience in geomatics, geospatial or related fields would be advantageous. Candidates with 2-4 years of relevant experience are preferred, although fresh graduates with a strong technical foundation are also welcome to apply.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
