Job summary

Lam Research in Singapore seeks a Field Process Engineer to be a customer-focused expert on our equipment, supporting installations, training, and design improvements with product groups. You will perform on-site support at customer sites, addressing integration challenges in the fabrication flow and conducting DOE evaluations to optimize hardware changes.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, ability to engage customers on technical solutions, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• PhD in Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or related field; or Masters of Science with 3+ years of relevant work experience; or Bachelors of Science with 5+ years of work experience.
• Systematic and analytical mindset is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal relations skills.
• Able to actively engage customers on technical solutions.
• Able to work in Fab environment and perform standby duties.
• Must wear PPE including air respirator equipment, clean room garments and safety shoes.
• Willing to support short term, overseas assignment.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer technology roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements and business issues; identify Lam value-add opportunities.
• Coordinate with Account team and customers to execute penetration and defense strategies; work with Global Product Group on demonstrations.
• Startup capacity-add Lam systems; match results to existing systems and applications.
• Design and run simple DOE evaluations to characterize process windows for installations or hardware modifications.
• Conduct experiments, collect data, and generate reports for internal/external distribution.
• Develop new processes for new or existing customer applications.
• Represent Lam professionally to customers and keep them informed of needs and Lam solutions.
• Develop good customer relations during start-up and troubleshooting.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safe working conditions on site.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

The group you'll be a part of

The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you'll make

At Lam, as a Field Process Engineer you are a customer-focused expert on our equipment, pushing the boundaries to meet customer needs. You play a vital role in supporting the customer in installations, training, and identifying design improvements with product groups. Your portfolio includes providing on-site support at customer sites which include being familiar with customer wafer fabrication processing flow and techniques, addressing potential integration challenges with systems which impact or are being impacted earlier or later in the process flow. This includes Design of Experiment (DOE), process evaluation and documentation of process outputs relating to hardware installations, medications / upgrades to existing systems.

What You'll Do

• Work closely with Account team and customers to understand customer technology roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements and business issues / challenges. Identify areas where Lam is able to value-add.
• Work with Account team and customers to execute to penetration and defense strategy, including coordinating with Global Product Group on product demonstration
• Perform startup of "capacity add" Lam systems i.e. match results to existing systems and applications
• Design and complete simple DOE evaluations to characterize process window for new installations or Lam recommended field hardware modifications / upgrades
• Conduct experiments and tests, collect and analyze data and generate reports for both internal and external distribution
• Develop new processes to new and/or existing customer applications
• Professionally represent the company to the customer. Utilize knowledge of company's product lines and services to keep existing / potential customers informed when new/additional needs are identified
• Develop good customer relations during start-up and trouble-shooting
• Maintain company's assigned equipment (computer, tool kit, diagnostic test equipment, spare parts etc) in good working condition, secure and accounted for
• Ensure safe working condition at work site
• Any other duties as assigned by the Immediate Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or related field; or Masters of Science with 3+ years of relevant work experience; or Bachelors of Science with 5+ years of work experience.

• Foundational analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
