Job summary

SMRT Trains Ltd invites applications for a Budget & Financial Control role. You will instill financial discipline, monitor budgets across cost centres for the Trains division, and ensure sustainable usage of resources.

Qualifications

  • Accounting, Quantity Surveyor or Engineering degree required.
  • Experience in budget management and familiarity with SAP, Anaplan and Ariba is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage budgets for Cost Centres in Trains to ensure adherence.
  • Administer the Trains' Funding Forum, validate details, and minute discussions.
  • Support Capability Development for Rail Operations & Maintenance and related committees by checking budget details.
  • Coordinate reimbursement claims with LTA and prepare required documents.

Job description:

Job Purpose

Instill financial discipline and prudence on BUs / COEs that spend on SMRT Trains' budget. Monitor and analyze budget of Cost Centres. Ensure financial sustainability of SMRT Trains.



Responsibilities

1) Budget Management


  • Monitor and analyse budget for the Cost Centres in Trains to ensure budget adherence andfi nancial discipline.

  • Track the assigned Cost Centres' expenditures, monitoring and reporting on budgetvariance.

  • Understand in greater detail the Budget Management Policy and work with the COEs onthe implications of such policy on the line units.



2) Trains Funding Forum


  • Administer Trains' Funding Forum

  • Check and validate the details in the Funding Forum Form

  • Minutes the discussion in Funding Forum

  • Follow up with the action list

  • Track all expenditures submitted in Funding Forum

  • Update and e-sign the Funding Forum Form



3) Capability Development for Rail Operations & Rail Maintenance; and Maintenance & Material Requirement Committee


  • Attend the meeting chaired by SVP

  • Check and validate budget details submitted in the form



4) Reimbursement Claim from LTA


  • Work with COEs on documents required by LTA

  • Front queries from LTA

  • Compile documents require by LTA

  • Issue invoice to LTA



Qualifications & Work Experience


  • Accounting, Quantity Surveyor or Engineering Degree.

  • Experience in budget management / SAP / Anaplan / Ariba will be added advantage.



Skills


  • Strong numerical ability - overseeing financial information so an excellent capacity foranalyzing data and numbers, with attention to budget management is necessary

  • Computer skills - from data mining to creating reports and spreadsheets, use computerprograms for a large proportion of their work

  • Communication skills - deal with various members of the organization, so an ability toeff ectively explain complex fi nancial information in plain terms is essential

  • Attention to detail - an ability to spot discrepancies in information or interpreting cash fl owproblems is benefi cial

  • Analytical approach - have an investigative nature and enjoy mining information for specifi cdata or trends

  • Others: Team player
