Job summary

Coherent Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a seasoned Test Engineer to design and develop scalable test solutions for manufacturing needs in Singapore. You will maintain software systems, collaborate with Production and Engineering, and drive automation initiatives using AI-assisted coding and RPA tools.

The role requires 5+ years in test development within manufacturing, with strong skills in LabVIEW, C#, C++, and Python, plus familiarity with NI-LabVIEW and NI-TestStand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, IT or CS.
• Minimum 5 years in Test Engineering/Development in manufacturing.
• Experience in NI-LabVIEW, NI-TestStand, LabVIEW, C#, C++ and Python programming.
• Experience with RPA tools such as Power Automate is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Industrial Automation.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable hardware and software test solutions for manufacturing requirements.
• Maintain and enhance software systems to support changing production needs.
• Work with Production, Engineering, and BUs to analyze product failures and resolve software-related issues.
• Manage outsourced software development partners from concept to deployment and maintenance for automated equipment.
• Perform system integration, debugging, and repeatability studies to improve system performance and robustness.
• Collaborate with BUs to improve product testing and continuous improvement approaches.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools to improve development productivity, code quality, and troubleshooting.
• Develop RPA and workflow automation solutions to streamline manual processes and improve efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation in test systems, software workflows, and improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering /information technology /computer science or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of relevant working experience in Test Engineering, Test Development, or equivalent working experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in NI-LabVIEW, NI-Test Stand, Labview, C#, C++ and Python programming is required.
• Good Experience and knowledge in Industrial Automation.
• Experience using Codex or other AI platforms to support coding activities.
• Experience with or knowledge of RPA tools, such as Microsoft Power Automate, is an advantage.

Skills & Other Requirements

• Test and measurement instrumentation exposure and experience in software development for remote equipment control are required.
• Experience in SQL with advanced query design, stored procedures, views, and functions.
• Understanding of Database Administration (e.g.: replication, backup/restore strategies, clustering, log-shipping)
• Understanding of HTML, and CSS programming.

• Project management skills and experience working with outsourced software developers are a plus.
