Responsibilities
- Design and Specification: Developing detailed engineering specifications, datasheets, and documentation for instrumentation and control systems. This includes instrument selection, loop diagrams, P&IDs, cable schedules, and termination drawings.
- Project Management: Overseeing all aspects of instrumentation and control engineering projects, from initial design through to commissioning and start-up. This includes planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Technical Expertise: Applying in-depth knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, control valves, PLCs, and DCS systems.
- Vendor Management: Evaluating vendor proposals, reviewing vendor drawings, and managing vendor interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensuring all instrumentation and control systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. Participating in HAZOP studies and other safety reviews.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Providing technical support for troubleshooting and maintenance of existing instrumentation and control systems.
- Team Leadership: Mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Client Interaction: Interfacing with clients, project teams, and site representatives to ensure project requirements are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
- Extensive experience in instrumentation and control engineering, with a focus on the full project lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, and simulation software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (DCS) systems.
- Knowledge of networking technologies, such as TCP/IP, Modbus, and Ethernet.
- Experience in specific industries, such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, power generation, or manufacturing, may be required.
