About the role - you will:
- Lead system-level engineering consultation for existing and future test equipment, covering areas such as Electrical/Electronics design, PCBA designs, equipment inter-connect and wiring architectures.
- Develop schematics, wiring diagram and system-level architecture using CAD tools
- Perform detailed component selection, system integration, and design verification.
- Oversee prototype development, testing, debugging, and product qualification.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project goals.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and certification requirements (e.g., UL, CE, ISO).
- Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of electrical issues during development and in-field support.
- Contribute to documentation including specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, tools, and best practices to bring innovation to the team.
About you:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in electrical design and automation systems, including both development and sustaining activities.
- Industrial Knowledge: Strong familiarity with industrial sensors, actuators, motor control systems, and relevant industry standards.
- Electrical Design Tools: Proficient in CAD tools for schematic and layout design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent).
- High-Power Systems: Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in high-power electrical design, including power distribution, safety factors, cabling, load calculations, and component ratings.
- Test System Expertise: Hands-on experience working with backend test systems such as Gemini and Nimbus,
- Prototype & Build Experience: Actively involved in first machine/prototype builds, including system installation, cable routing, testing, and verification.
- Safety Compliance: Experience designing electrical systems to meet Safety SOP39 requirements, including liaison with safety personnel(Salus/TUV) for design validation and approval.
- Sustaining Engineering: Proven experience in sustaining and lifecycle management of legacy equipment, including End-of-Life (EOL) component risk assessment and mitigation planning.
- Technical Skills: Skilled in operating laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and related diagnostic tools.
- Soft Skills: Highly self-motivated, responsible, and adaptable, with a proactive “can-do” attitude and open mindset.
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create technical documentation, reports, and testing procedures clearly and accurately.
- Project Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management abilities with an emphasis on delivering quality and reliability in engineering solutions.
Your experience includes:
- Electrical Circuit Design: Skilled in creating and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Control Systems: Knowledge of sensors, actuators, relays, encoders, motor controls, and basic PID theory.
- Troubleshooting & Testing: Experienced in diagnosing automation system issues using diagnostic tools.
- Safety Standards: Familiar with SEMI, NFPA, IEC, SOP39, and machine safety components (e-stops, safety relays, interlocks).
- Programming: Familiar with PLC and safety controller safety circuit design (ladder logic, FBD, safety logic).
- Pneumatics Systems: Understanding of solenoids, cylinders, manifolds, and valves.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects.
