Job summary

Singtel Group is building an AI-first telco for the future and seeks a seasoned Oracle database administrator to support on-prem and cloud environments. You will handle RAC/Cluster deployments, backups, security hardening, and performance tuning across Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.

You will partner with global teams to ensure database availability, implement DR practices, and contribute to CIS-aligned hardening.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Oracle Professional Certification.
• Minimum 3 years of Oracle experience (Standalone + RAC/Cluster).
• Experience with MS SQL / MySQL / PostgreSQL / MongoDB.
• Patching, backup & recovery, and performance tuning expertise including cluster architecture.
• Database hardening per CIS benchmarks; DR planning and testing.
• Experience with encryption, wallet management, and AD integration.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day database administration for on-premises and cloud environments.
• Manage Oracle Server databases including RAC/Cluster and other DB flavors; backup, recovery, security, and performance tuning.
• Respond to incidents, investigate, and provide permanent resolutions.
• Oversee change management and provide status reports.
• Monitor performance and availability; implement corrective actions.
• Maintain DR/backup documentation and execute Switchover/Fallover when required.

How You will Make An Impact:

• The candidate should possess good knowledge and experience with Oracle database from 11g and above .
• Candidate is responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of database administration to meet the business needs and service level for database in on Prem & cloud/Azure covering ORACLE (11g,12c,19c +..) including RAC & Non RAC plus plus another db flavour MSSQL/SQLMI/MYSQL/POSTGRES/Mongo including cluster.
• Knowledge and experience with Oracle Multitenant (CDB/PDB).
• Manage and troubleshoot the L2 tasks independently
• Provide 2nd level operational database support on functions associated with maintenance of Oracle Server databases plus MSSQL/SQLMI/MYSQL/POSTGRES/Mongo cluster/standalone onprem/cloud including administration, performance, security &hardening, back-up,dataguard configuration and maintenance, reporting, and recovery procedures
• Assist and respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide permanent resolution of incidents escalated.
• Manage database changes through change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties.
• Monitor & measure the performance & availability of databases proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve.
• Perform regular security patching for the DBs including RAC/Cluster db.
• Handle service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.
• Good experience with RMAN backup configuration, troubleshooting backup issues.
• Good experience in manage with encryption and wallet management.
• Knowledge with AD integration.
• Diagnosis knowledge based on alert, cluster listener logs to check for the db core issues.
• Performance tuning core db &application sql plan, good knowledge in ready AWR &scripting knowledge
• Manage / maintain &optimise oracle DB space including tablespaces, ASM &database FS, Periodic rebuild to defragment /Space management.
• Manage DB access. Create, Change, delete users accounts as per request following security guidelines.
• Good experience in managing oracle data guard and ensure DG/DR in synch all times and manage DR activities with Switchover/failover.Monitor and maintain database backups.
• Create and maintain database related documents including asset, SOP etc.
• Review & perform application and core db deployments.
• Accommodative for Shift/Roster call out.

Skills for Success:

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Oracle Professional Certification
• Added advantage if have additional certification like MS SQL /MYSQL/EDB /POSTGRES/MONGO Professional Certification
• Minimum 3 year of experience in Oracle(Standalone +RAC/Cluster)
• Plus work experience on MS SQL /MYSQL/EDB/Postgres/MongoDB
• Extensive experience in managing common Database platform like Oracle, and to have another db flavour PostgreSQL/MSSQL/MYSQL/MONGO/POSTGRES Including Cluster architecture
• Experience in performing database Patching, backup & recovery as well as excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skill is a must.(Including cluster architecture)
• Implement Database hardening as per CIS Benchmarks.
• Implement and manage DR,Audit, Backup & Monitoring of DBs.
• Strong analytical skills for problem-solving database-related issues.
• Big picture thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole
• Good knowledge of IT governance and operations
• Ability to influence an outcome without creating conflict
