Job summary

Newbridge seeks a Database Test Engineer to own the quality and reliability of our cloud-native database services. You will design and implement automated tests for releases, patches and architecture changes, integrating tests into CI/CD and building scalable test platforms.

The role sits between DBA, QA and DevOps, requiring deep database knowledge and ability to code automation to test at scale across MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB and more.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in database testing, QA, or DBA roles with testing focus.
• Strong hands-on experience in at least 2 of: MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse.
• Deep understanding of database internals: replication, ACID, transactions, indexing, backup/restore.
• Proficiency in test automation with Python / Go / Shell.
• Experience with Linux, SQL, and performance testing tools (Sysbench is a must).
• Experience working in high-traffic internet companies handling large-scale databases.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end testing for database products across multiple engines.
• Design and execute test strategies: functional, HA/failover, backup & recovery, upgrade, compatibility, data consistency.
• Build and maintain automated testing platform for large-scale database clusters (Python/Go).
• Conduct performance and stress testing using Sysbench, TPCC, JMeter, and workload simulators.
• Validate high-availability architectures: replication, failover, switchover, disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with DBAs, SREs, and Backend teams to reproduce issues and certify fixes.
• Integrate database testing into CI/CD pipelines and improve observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).

We are seeking a Database Test Engineer to own the quality and reliability of our clients cloud-native database services. You will be responsible for building the automated testing framework that validates every database release, patch, and architecture change before it hits production.

This role sits between DBA, QA, and DevOps - ideal for someone who understands databases deeply and can code automation to test them at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end testing for database products: MySQL,PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch
• Design and execute test strategies covering: functional, HA/failover, backup & recovery, upgrade, compatibility, and data consistency testing
• Build and maintain automated testing platform (Python / Go) for large-scale database clusters
• Conduct performance and stress testing using Sysbench, TPCC, JMeter and develop custom workload simulators
• Validate high-availability architectures: replication, failover, switchover, disaster recovery
• Collaborate closely with Database Engineers, SREs, and Backend teams to reproduce issues and certify fixes
• Integrate database testing into CI/CD pipelines and improve observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)

Mandatory Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Database Testing, Database QA, or DBA role with strong testing focus
• Strong hands‑on expertise in at least 2 of: MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse
• Deep understanding of database internals: replication, ACID, transactions, indexing, backup/restore
• Proficiency in test automation with Python / Go / Shell
• Experience with Linux, SQL, and performance testing tools (Sysbench is a must)
• Experience working in high‑traffic internet companies handling large‑scale databases

Preferred Profile

• Experience testing DBaaS / Cloud Database Platforms / Kubernetes Operators for Databases
• Experience with chaos engineering, Jepsen testing, or PXC / Galera clusters
• Former DBA transitioning into automation/testing role is highly preferred
